Energy and Natural Resources Gilberti Stinziano Heintz & Smith, P.C. has one of the leading energy practices in New York State, with experience in generation and transmission, as well as mining, state and federal permitting and land leases associated with mineral rights, oil and gas drilling. We represent more than 12% of New York's electric generating capacity, have advised natural gas suppliers on the implication of new regulatory programs and have served as permitting and environmental counsel on what would be the longest underground electric transmission line in the world. Our work includes representation in matters before state and federal agencies including state public service commissions and environmental agencies, The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy. Our experience includes advice on the development, regulation and defense of large and small generating facilities totaling more than 5,000 megawatts and 450 miles of electric transmission line. Our projects include development of what at the time was the largest non-utility generating plant in North America; the rehabilitation of a six boiler coal fired power plant; the defense of 10 coal fired boilers for alleged modifications without prevention of significant deterioration (PSD) air permits; and the development of a 190 mile overhead high voltage direct current transmission line. Other projects include generating plants fueled by natural gas, oil, anthracite and bituminous coal, wood, petroleum coke, plastics and paper. We have also provided counsel on the instillation and operation of literally hundreds of large oil, natural gas and dual fuel fired internal combustion engines providing power to hospitals, schools, industrial facilities and mines. Gilberti Stinziano Heintz & Smith, P.C. has provided advice on utility tariffs, parallel operating agreements and project grant applications under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority Distributed Generation and Combined Heat and Power Program. |
